Are You an Empath?

To determine if you're an empath you need to take a quick self-assessment test.

Being an Empath doesn't have to be a curse. I like to think of it as a gift. If you're an empath, don't push this ability to the side. When you push away this divine gift, you run the risk of blocking creativity, isolating, attracting energy vampires, turning to unhealthy substances and habits, harming relationships, and even getting sick.

We'll be using tools like meditation, writing exercises, reiki, grounding yoga sequences and other tools to nudge you in the right direction.

Do you think you might be an empath?

Have you been told you're "too sensitive"? I'd love to know!

Have you been told that you're too sensitive?

Have you repeatedly been told you're too sensitive?

There have also been a number of questions about being an empath, what types of empaths there are, and some of you are even worried that you're NOT an empath.

Please don't worry (seriously, leave that to us). So why would you want to hang around if you're not an empath or a highly sensitive person (HSP)?

Well, you might have a loved one who is and even a kid who you suspect might be an empath.

Back to my question. Have you repeatedly been told you're too sensitive? I have. And it made me feel even worse for actually having these feelings. The more I pushed the feelings down, the sicker I got. I was exhausted, I isolated and was fearful that the emotions would come back stronger (and they did).

As empaths, this can make us feel frustrated, fearful, and stuck. It's a terrible way to live. When started embracing this gift, I really started to live. Trust me - I fought it.

When I decided to put myself at...

Are You a Physical Empath?

I've received so many emails with a flood of questions asking what it's like being an empath, what types of empaths are out there, and how they can manage this divine trait. There are a variety of empaths so I thought I'd focus on one at a time. I get it. It's easy to get overwhelmed with so much information.

If you haven't done so already, please take the empath quiz so you'll have a better idea of what it's like being an empath or a highly sensitive person (HSP).

To put it simply, physical empaths absorb or manifest symptoms that aren't their own.

For me, if I see someone hurt, my body physically takes on symptoms and it becomes very uncomfortable. As a kid, when someone would talk about the details of an injury or when I'd even see something on TV, I'd say "That makes the bottom of my feet hurt." (what an odd thing to say, right?) As a kid, that was the best way to describe it.

This is hard for the other 80% of the...

3 Simple Strategies for Empaths

In today's post, I let you in on 3 simple strategies for empaths.

If you're an empath or a highly sensitive person you probably know that one of the biggest challenges is helping those close to us understand what we need.

Although there can be an adjustment period, there are 3 simple strategies we can use to feel better.

1. Alone time. For an empath, having alone time in a relationship is not just a luxury. It's a necessity. Balance alone time with people time. Regularly take what Dr. Judith Orloff calls “a golden hour” to decompress, meditate, or any other mindfulness practice.

2. Take breaks. Get into the habit of having lots of mini-breaks throughout the day. Express to those closest to you how vital this is. Empaths need to think and process alone to regroup. Think of this is a time-out for yourself. It gives you space to gain more clarity and will help recharge you for the rest of the day.

3. Don't play the blame game....

Are You an Earth Empath?

Did you know that some people are earth empaths?

Earth or nature empaths are connected and tuned in to the natural world and all the changes going on around the planet. The beauty of nature can energize empaths but the toxicity of pollutants can make them feel sick exhausted or depressed.

How do you know if you’re an earth empath?

You’re probably very sensitive to the earth’s changes in your body. Energetically you can feel the power of a thunderstorm, the changes of the moon, or the heightened energy of the forest. You also may be very sensitive to weather changes and the amount of daylight.

Earth empaths may experience Seasonal Affective  Disorder. (SAD) and may become depressed when the days are shorter. They may also have premonitions about natural disasters or feel them intensely in their bodies as they’re occurring.

I have to say, I can relate to some of these traits. I always thought I was weird or that I was making excuses for feeling so...

What Are You Ready to Outgrow?

We’re at our best when we’re growing, but that growth often comes with growing pains.

I’m here to talk about what happens when we experience emotional triggers. For empaths and highly sensitive people, the struggle is definitely real.

Emotional triggers can be anything from a co-worker making a rude comment about our appearance to a relative commenting on a relationship status. When this happens, we withdraw, feel hurt, angry, and can lash out.

As empaths and HSP, we can feel incredibly drained and exhausted, especially when we feel like we have to play defense against painful words and behaviors. That takes a LOT of energy and it's definitely no way to live. .
The frustrating part of it all is that these behaviors can bring up all the doubt that you may have thought you buried a long time ago.

These beliefs are based on fears—they are not reality. You don’t want to be triggered all the time. It is exhausting and painful, especially for highly sensitive...
